President's Day.

The kids and I headed to Newport Beach today for President's day. The middle of February, still "winter", but almost 80 degrees. We are spoiled, for sure! The kids had a blast ofcourse, first playing in the water, having a sand castle contest, building their own little forts out of bamboo sticks and then we got cleaned up and walked over to Balboa Boardwalk. There we had pizza and the girls got to ride the carousel. Right after that we enjoyed cotton candy & ice cream. With stuffed tummies and stinky fingers.. we headed back to the car, but not before takin a quick pic in front of one of the many beautiful murals you'll find all over Newport. What a day!

A couple other highlights..

Ellah found a sand dollar.

Hannah got buried in the sand.

Isaiah had a blast in the jinormous waves!

I got to sit back, relax and take it all in.

Lucky me :)

Amused by the ferry.

Fun on the carousel.

Never a dull moment with this one.

Yummy ice cream.

Silly goose.

Pretty mural.

Dancing Shoes

My shoes are like no other,
flying and diving here and there across the stage,
spinning and grinning with their shiny black look,
as I smile and leap and cascade from here to there,
the truth is that I don't really have a pair of dancing shoes,
but anytime I come close to you my ordinary everyday shoes become these,
so for you I jump and hop and spin,
giving my all just for you,
so I give you something to smile about,
to laugh and grin,
you bring out the best in me,
you are my true dancing shoes,
because you are a 'shiny immortal' person,
with love and faith,
and truth and grace,
love so strong that nothing seems to go wrong,
whenever we're together anything is possible,
and you
you are
my dancing shoes.

Already 40!

So since I'm recording down things uttered by my intelligent children.. I wanted to remember something Hannah had said the other day. Lately she's been facsinated, well more like worried about me and Rich dying! I don't know where this came from, but I can remember when I was probably around her age having those same anxieties and worries. Anyhow, she came to me the other day and was just so sad about her not wanting me to die and she asked, "mom, what are you gonna do when dad dies?, what will you do without him?" I looked at her puzzled and she went on to say, "well, he's already gonna be 40!"

I guess she thinks doom is waiting around the corner for him, since he's SO OLD!

Needless to say, it made me laugh..... VERY hard!
